Salamandra O'Stoat

Found by Annamarie in an abandonned house, Salamandra is alone in the world. No one knows where her parents are, so she is sent to Pallid Rock Orphanage. Socially awkward, Salamandra does not fit in. She has some talent for magic, but does not have the wisdom to know when to use it, and when not.

Annamarie

Annamarie Nightshade Central figure in the free-read backstory, and a principle mover in ‘Personal Demons’ Annamarie is a witch. Raised in the island’s orphanage, apprenticed to Jemima Kettle, Annamarie is a wild soul who cannot help but rebel against the conventions of island life.

Frampton Jones

Frampton Jones is the editor, printer and distributor of the only newspaper on the island – The Hopeless Vendetta, which you can read at www.hopelessvendetta.wordpress.com An eccentric soul at the best of times, he has recently been driven close to madness by his camera, and is only alowed out under supervision. 

Doc Willoughby

Doc Willoughby dispenses medicine and advice, at a price. He would describe himself as a pillar of the community and a key figure in Hopeless. Annamarie would describe him as a self important drunkard who probably couldn’t find his arse with both hands. 

Reverend E. Davies

 Reverend Davies presides over marriages, christenings, funerals, and weekly serives. He also runs the Sunday School, and Pallid Rock orphanage. Reverend Davies takes his service to the community seriously, and suspects that much of the problem with Hopeless stems from decadance and an insufficiency of prayer. He is married to Sophie Davies, and they have a young son called Owen.
